Guide for New Players
What is Tegu Station?
Tegu Station is a multiplayer roleplaying game developed using the BYOND engine, based on Baystation 12's codebase. On Tegu Station players take the role of a crew on a ship.
There are many different jobs available, and each player chooses and plays a role. On our server, Tegu Station, we are a dedicated roleplaying community where you can play a variety of roles aboard the TGLV Intrepid, ranging from members of the Exploration Division of the Terran Government, a boot straight out of training from the Fleet, a marine from Marine Corps, a scientist from the NanoTrasen Corporation, a contractor working for your own gains, or a civilian who hopped along for the ride.
The Contested Space is a dangerous place, however, and all sorts of horrible things can happen to you. Enemy infiltrators, militant uprisings, mysterious spellcasters, alien infestation, shapeshifting monsters, hired mercenaries, armed extremists or even technologically advanced alien civilization - all seeking the downfall of your ship.
Rules
The rules for Tegu Station must be read before beginning the game. It is important that you read through the rules thoroughly before starting the game.
Joining the server

To join the server, you must first download the BYOND cilent. Once you have created an account and have installed BYOND, you can connect to the server:
- By adding the address while on the BYOND client
byond://tegu.cupcore.net:4100
to your client to login manually.
This will automatically enter the game and present you with a "WELCOME" menu. Select Character Setup before joining the round - and if you haven't already, read the entirety of this guide.
Character setup

Before you can begin playing, you need to set up your character. You should take a look at the various lore pages to understand what kind of a world you are about to enter.
You do not have to memorize everything! Just make sure you have read them once or twice to have an idea of how things work here. It is highly suggested to read through the entirety of the guide before creating a new character.
Here is a small guide on where to start:
- For a general summary, see the page Beginner Lore.
- Events take place on the TGLV Intrepid, a military scout starship sent by Terran Government with a task of border control and salvage/exploration of the nearby structures and exoplanets.
- The TGLV Intrepid operates under the Terran Government Law.
- The Standard Operating Procedure is a set of guidelines and procedures. They are not laws and the Commanding Officer can alter them as they see fit.
- Read the General Regulations page to understand more about the ship's hierarchy and its customs.
It is always suggested to observe a round before attempting to play, you will be able to respawn afterwards.
This will allow you to get a hold of whats expected of you when you get on the ship and you can ask questions in deadchat (dchat) about the current round. (Do not ask questions about the current round in OOC or LOOC! It is against the rules.)
Roleplaying
First and most importantly, Tegu Station is considered a roleplay server. You should remain in character as much as possible and only use the OOC or LOOC channels if you need to speak to someone else in a manner that does not fit your character or the game. That being said there are very few limitations on how you should act in-character so long as you are not breaking any of the server rules.
Rule of thumb is - Act as a believable character for the setting.
